June 8, 2011

On Wednesday we met at Southpark mall at 9:00 am and began preparing for the Friends and Family Event. The event lasts through Saturday and allows customers with the coupon to save 20 % off Polo merchandise excluding clearance.  Customers can also enjoy an additional 30 % off clearance items. Setting up the sale section was a key focus for the first day of the event.  I worked on straightening folded graphic tees on a sale fixture as well as consolidating the clearance merchandise.  Tony and I switched the clearance items that were hung on wooden Polo hangers to plastic hangers for a more uniform look.  As the day got busier, Collin and I assisted the Polo Specialist, Lonnie, by greeting customers and answering any questions they had. We also had the chance to go over Southpark’s Recap results with Tony who explained the meaning of the results.  By preparing for the event, I learned the importance of efficiently setting up the merchandise and gained further knowledge on how the customer responds to certain set ups of clearance items.  For instance, sale woven shirts will typically sell better if they are hung up on a rounder versus being folded on a shelf fixture.
